Southern Connecticut State University
Department of Library and Information Science

This portfolio is a collection designed to highlight my experience in the graduate program of Library and Information Sciences at Southern Connecticut State University. Contained in this portfolio is a Course List, Selected Projects, and a Resume. I was fortunate to discover this program when I was desperately trying to figure out a way to earn a Masters of Library Science and continue to work full time as a library assistant. With the exception of two intersession courses, I have completed all requirements online.

The online experience taught me skills that I would not have acquired in a traditional classroom. Time management, an independent work ethic, computer competencies and written communication skills are just a sampling of the implied curriculum.

I was able to relate most of the course assignments to the work I perform at the public library. In the process of working on graduate studies, I was promoted from Branch Assistant to Branch Manager at the East Falmouth Library.
